#100HappyDays: 41-60

I’ve quite enjoyed this photo diary thing so far. As you’ll see straight off, I’m not much of a photographer (especially when taking photos with a baby in my other arm on a mobile phone), but it’s motivational and a nice little document of everything that’s going on (which, admittedly, is a lot some days and almost nothing others). This one has a few media moments and a lot of little man – and yes, there are two day 41s, but these things happen! (the first block is here and the second here).

My boy loves pink at the moment, especially Minnie Mouse. I find that so cute. I’m particularly proud of him today as we had a check up and he’s gained a good bit of weight (he’s underweight due to food allergies, and it’s been a struggle). He’s such a tiny cheeky little joy. #100happydays #day42

Drove to Galway and back. Did an interview (I think it went ok) and spent hours on Salthill Promenade but the best thing about today was finding super bubble bath in Tesco and seeing the look on the little lad’s face. You can change a lot of things in life, but not your football team. You also shouldn’t revel in someone else’s loss. There have been times this year, however, when I’ve been as close to simply filtering out Aston Villa as I can ever remember being. A daylight day’s worth of matchplay with (generously) a single premier league goal. Hopeless games of defensive keepball that meant a team with a 1-0 lead over us could sit down and have a sandwich for all the threat they were under. The lowest attendances in living memory. This had to happen, and I’m glad it did. Villa might well still go down for the first time since I’ve been old enough to speak, but it can’t really be any worse. It definitely trumps some seemingly comfortable second round interview tests as the best thing about today. #100happydays #day54 #AVFC

Ive been doing a blog project on irish music for the last few weeks called ‘State of the Nation’, which examines where the irish music scene is at through the eyes of various industry types. Its really astounded me how much people have been willing to give: I’ve had exclusive announcements, 5000 word essays, bold critiques and flowery love ins. Took the little lad swimming for the first time ever at the National Aquatic Centre. He went from a nervous wreck to absolutely thrilled in half an hour. One of those I wont forget this in a hurry experiences! #100happydays #day58

Mondays have become weird days for me. Adam’s at crèche for the day, which means hours walking there and back (its by my old office, takes as long in the car and we dont want to unsettle him). Its also my only chance to exercise during the day, which means a decent jog, and the easiest day to do applications (i got three in today). Its full and frantic but i kind of like it. This is one result, from the awesome Fitbit flex, which has a small flaw in that it considers fast walking vigorous exercise. I took the little lad down to Bray today, where we met and played with Patrick, who you’ll be pleased (or possibly disappointed) to learn is a starfish. He then tried – thankfully without success – to stroke a sting ray and a small shark. Fearless. Apart from the 3 inch tropical box fish, which was terrifying, apparently. Gotta love babies! #100happydays #day60
